The Best Motivational Quotes for Marketers
Finding motivation to do your best work on a Monday morning can take a lot of effort, and sometimes a few dozen shots of espresso. Rather than risk a caffeine headache, I have found that instead of reaching for my coffee mug sometimes all I need on a Monday morning to get my brain kickstarted is reading a few motivational marketing quotes.
Some of these quotes come from other marketers, and some of them come from outside the industry, but they all offer wisdom and advice that can help you think differently about your marketing. If you’re searching for some inspiration, look no further!
Our Favorite Motivational Marketing Quotes
“Inspiration doesn’t respond to meeting requests. So be open to respond to it when it appears.” –Jay Baer
Wouldn’t it be nice if inspiration always struck you exactly when you were ready for it? Unfortunately, that is not how life works, and many of our best ideas come to us when we’re doing something completely unrelated like taking a shower. Don’t wait for a meeting to try and be inspired. If inspiration finds you, respond to it.
“The best way to predict the future, is to create it.” –Peter Drucker
Stop waiting for someone else to create the next innovative marketing tactic, trend, or brand. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your box and create something new and uniquely your own.
“The best content isn’t storytelling. The best content is telling a true story well.” –Ann Handley
If you’re struggling to come up with content ideas, take a word of advice from digital marketing expert Ann Handley. Don’t focus on telling a good story. Find a story true to your brand, and tell it well.
“Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.” –Bruce Lee
I could write an entire blog post on inspirational quotes from Bruce Lee, but this is one of my favorites. If you want to streamline your marketing efforts, think about what you need to reject, what you can adapt, and what you can add to make your brand unique.
“Content builds relationships. Relationships are built on trust. Trust drives revenue.” –Andrew Davis
If you’ve ever felt like you had to justify your content marketing efforts to a boss, or to yourself, keep this quote in mind. Content drives revenue through the relationships it earns you and the trust you build. Make sure your content is building trust with your customers.
“Marketing’s job is never done. It’s about perpetual motion. We must continue to innovate every day.” – Beth Comstock
You would (hopefully) never just work on your website’s SEO once then never think about it again. You know that SEO takes consistent effort and innovation over time. You can apply this thinking to the rest of your marketing efforts. Marketing isn’t something you do once. You must find ways to innovate every day.
“Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” –Sun Tzu
Strategy is central to marketing. Don’t start a new marketing effort without first thinking through the overall strategy behind it. Tactics are nothing without research to support them.
“Without data, you’re just another person with an opinion.” –W. Edwards Deming
It is important for marketers of all types to never forget the importance of data. It is easy to make assumptions, but without data to back them up your assumptions are just opinions.
“The essence of strategy is choosing what not to do.” –Michael Porter
Rather than trying to do all the tactics you could do all at once, look at each of your marketing tactics and reject the ones that aren’t central to your strategy.
“Content is the atomic particle of all digital marketing.” –Rebecca Lieb
Content plays a vital role in all of your marketing initiatives, from copywriting on your website, to your social media, to your offline advertising. Make sure your content is up to par.
When motivation is hard to find we all have our tricks for finding it again. Sometimes all it takes a little wisdom from an expert.
